CORTEZ ROUND UP

Dear parents/ guardians,
It’s incredible how quickly time flies, and here we are, on the brink of winter break. As the year draws to a close, I am reaching out to share our schedule for the upcoming break and to express my excitement for what the new year holds.
Our school will be on winter break from December 25-January 5. We look forward to welcoming our students back on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.
With the new year and a fresh semester just around the corner, I wanted to take a moment to share some highlights from this month.
Highlights:
Congratulations to our November Colts with C.L.A.S.S. winners.
Freshmen- Jaxon Kratz
Sophomore- Neveah Johnson
Junior- Connor Crutcher
Senior- Jovanna Cordova
Kuddos to our hardworking Student Council for recently orchestrating an exciting and entertaining winter assembly for the student body that highlighted our winter sports programs. Our student-athletes are in full swing of their games, competing at high levels. Congratulations to the Boys Basketball team led by Coach McCallum for winning three straight games providing a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Good luck to all wrestlers, soccer players, and basketball players over the winter break.
A few weeks ago, over 90 students from our CTE Welding and Construction classes went to Construction Days at the Armory in Phoenix. Students had a fun-filled day of hands-on activities focusing on plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and heavy machinery. The students came away with a better understanding of the types of careers available upon graduating high school. The swag students came home with was an added bonus.
We are proud to be partnering with Borderlands Produce on Wheels Without Waste, also known as: P.O.W.W.O.W. Please CLICK HERE for information and dates regarding the Borderlands program. We hope to see you on Saturday, December 23rd from 8:00 am-11:00 am picking up your 70 lbs. of produce in our Dunlap parking lot. It takes many student and staff volunteers to make this program work effectively. A special thanks to the football and golf teams for their service at the November event.
As we step into 2024, we eagerly anticipate many exciting developments and opportunities for our students. The upcoming months are filled with promise, and we can’t wait to share more achievements and joyful moments with you.
Wishing you all a joyous holiday season. Here’s to a bright and successful new year!
Sincerely,
Principal Parsons
