Career Center (Hernandez) Attention ALL future ASU students! This is your last reminder; ASU's Deadlines are soon approaching!! Wednesday, January 15th is the deadline for ASU's regular admission, FAFSA priority, Obama Scholars and BARRETT HONORS!!! Soccer (Yanez) Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooallll!  Congratulations to the Boys' Soccer team last night for their victory over Greenway High School.  The night ended with a score of 3-2 with the following players exploding goals for Cortez:  Isaya Ngumba, Carlos Barraza and Paul Molinares!  The JV boys soccer team was also victorious last night ending the game 17 minutes early due to the "mercy rule."  When a team is winning by a score of 8 goals ahead, the game is called. The JV score was 8-0. Great job, guys!  We play Moon Valley here at Cortez this Thursday night at 4 and 6 pm!  Come cheer us on to another victory!

Girls Basketball (Coleman) In a hard fight, tough basketball game at Washington last night, your Lady Colts represented themselves very well. Your varsity squad was led by senior Elizabeth Mena with 5 points, 12 rebounds, 1 block and she was on the floor 5 separate times diving for loose basketballs. Sophomore Ashley Rivero scored 7 points and secured 7 rebounds. Junior Sam Pirvulescu cashed in 7 points and also grabbed 7 rebounds. Junior Laihany Gonzalez led the team with 4 assists. Senior Jackie Perches led the team with 6 deflections and 4 steals. Great effort Lady Colts!!

Boys Basketball (Jerome) Congratulations to the Varsity boys’ basketball team for their victory over Washington last night 74-68.  The Colts were led by the hot shooting of Dylan Begay with 32 pts, DJ Lynch with 13pts, and Rasheed Govan with 11.  Donald Wright and Deavon Felix led in rebounding each having 9 rebounds. The Colts play Combs Thursday on the road and then play Apache Junction at home on Tuesday.

Tennis (Gittens) Calling all tennis players! Calling all tennis players! All boys and girls interested in playing on this year’s tennis team come to room 1412 after school today at 2:45 for a short informational meeting. That’s TODAY-Rm 1412 -at 2:45. Also, there will be open court Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30 til 5:00. Racquets are available. That's Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30 til 5:00 at the tennis courts. See you there!

Career Center (Hernandez) Attention all Juniors!!! Are you still unsure of what career path to take or what school you will apply to next year? Well, you are in luck!!!! This Friday, January 17th all Juniors are to report to the auditorium no later than 7:30. If you are a Junior you will be taking a test that will give you an idea of what your strengths and weaknesses. After you take the test you will get an inventory list of careers to help determine a career path that best suits you!! This test is called ASVAB and is completely free to you! Juniors are you all paying close attention? Again, this Friday, January 17th you are to report to the auditorium no later than 7:30 a.m. for check in. The test will begin promptly at eight. You will also be excused from your first through 3rd hour. See Ms. Hernandez in the Career Center if you have questions!

Book Fair (Beyer) Don't forget, when you visit the book fair, you have a chance to win a gift card. The winner for yesterday's drawing is Noah Alvarez. Who will win tomorrow?
