April 10, 2020 - Dear GUHSD Parents & Guardians,

Thank you to all our parents and guardians for keeping your teens focused and on track with school. Our standard of excellence continues and our expectation is for all our students to continue engaging remotely in the classes they were attending before the COVID-19 pandemic. Although there is a non-punitive approach to grading, due to the current circumstances, it is imperative that students continue their education in order to be fully prepared to enter into the 2020-2021 school year and beyond.

Academic and college/career benefits to students include the following:

  • Earn credits needed for graduation
  • Solidify academic skills
  • Master academic content
  • Improve grades to increase grade point average and earn scholarships
  • Improve grades to gain entrance into college/university
  • Earn college credits
  • Connect and collaborate with peers
  • Engage in enrichment activities
  • Improve twenty-first century technology skills
  • Become better prepared for a highly competitive job market

As our remote instruction continues, it is important to know our teachers are here - here to teach, support and encourage your teen as they continue their high school career. We appreciate your support in encouraging your teen to take full advantage of the educational opportunities being provided.

April 9, 2020 - Good Evening,

In an effort to provide an update, we wanted to share with you important information for the structure of next week.

Monday, March 30th:
· Teachers will initiate contact with students in all of their classes.
· Students will receive an email, or a text through platforms like Remind 101 or Canvas.
· At this time, teachers will also provide directions for how classes will proceed electronically, which will begin on Tuesday.
· Students will be asked to respond to the teacher contact as a way of taking attendance for the first day.

Class schedule:
· Beginning March 30

Expectations for students:
· Log in to assigned classes, as directed by the teacher.
· Communicate with your teachers, as directed by the teacher.
· Complete the weekly assignments to build your academic skills.
· Take advantage of the provided enrichment resources.

Supports for students:

· For academic support, email your teacher.
· For social/emotional support, contact Mrs. Tish Jefferson 623-915-8230 or email and/or the following crisis support agencies.

Technology for online learning:
· Students will need access to a computer and the internet to continue learning remotely.
· Students who need a computer can arrange for pick up from the school by contacting
