Diane Bykowski has been at Cortez since 1984, after moving from Chicago, Illinois. While in Illinois, Bykowski taught English, Reading, Communication Arts and Oral Interpretation of Literature. At Cortez, she started the Cortez Speech Team and coached for fourteen years. Under her coaching, numerous students won State awards as well as four team AIA State Championships.
Bykowski has her undergraduate degree from Chicago State University where she had a double major in Education and English. She then pursued graduate studies in vocal performance at Roosevelt University in Chicago, Illinois. She currently holds a gifted endorsement and continues to take classes in art.
